Arrow Please Help! iPaq file store problems

Hi all, I'm not able to delete files inside iPAQ file
store.
I've tried to format the file store with Resco explorer 2003 but it's impossible to
do. When I start formatting the file store my iPAQ freeze and I have to
reset it.
The same happens when i try to delete file or folders.

I'm sure that an hrd reset does not solve the problem so...could somebody help me??

Best regards and Happy New year
Riccardo

This happens on HP iPaq 1940

Hey Riccardo,
It might be that you're trying to delete system files. Can you check if it's
possible to delete user-created files? Also, is "file store" a certain
folder or is it something that comes with iPAQ?
When you're deleting these files, are you getting any message like "cannot
delete blah blah"?
If you can, please provide me with details. Maybe I'll figure out a way to
help you out.
Marinka.

Riccardo;
There was a program at www.brighthand.com in there forums that would
reformat the iPAQ File Store area. You'll need to do a search on file store.
This program may help.

Marinka; The iPAQ File Store is the user ROM Disk area of the ROM. It is not
normally formatable by normal utilities. Resco File Explorer in their latest
version supports formatting this area. Trying to copy a file larger than the
available free space of this area seems to render the iPAQ File Store
corrupt.

Re: Please Help! iPaq file store problems

Are you sure the files you are trying to delete are still not being used by
the system (are you sure word and excel are really closed and not just
"minimized")

Re: Please Help! iPaq file store problems

Hmm third post in this thread has the link;
http://discussion.brighthand.com/sho...ght=File+Store
Soft reset your device before trying this, and again after using it. If this
fails and also the newest Resco File Explorer has failed, then chances are
you'll need to have HP replace your main board.

Re: Please Help! iPaq file store problems

I had this problem as well. I lost 4Mb of my File Store and could not
reclaim it. I read that Resco File Explorer has the ability to
reformat the File Store. I downloaded it and it worked as advertised.
Last night while trying to perform a backup to the File Store I was
told I ran out of space. When I tried to do another format of the
File Store I encountered some errors and then the File Store
disappeared. I have not been able to restore it at all.

With HP on the phone I tried three consecutive hard resets with no
success. Later in the day I tried it again and now my iPaq 1940 can't
get past the hard reset boot screen.

It's going into HP for service and it's only one month old!

HP tells me that it will be back in five business days. This I got to
see.

This looks like a very common problem. I currently have ROM 1.00, I
wonder what it will cobe back with.
