View Full Version : Task Sync on old iPaq 3630
guenter.wolpert@t-online.de 03-01-2008, 09:03 AM Hello,
I recently got an iPaq3630, running Win CE 3.0.
I can use ActiveSync4.5 to synchronize files between the iPaq and my
desktop or laptop without problems.
But there is no way to synchronize with the iPaq's task or address
database.
In ActiveSync Options the respective items are listed as "not
installed".
I see in the (desktop's) registry is a set of settings for the
partnership,
where Task-->Store is set to "<*invalid*>".
Manually changing to "MS WinCE.OutLook" enables the respective option
in
ActiveSync, but only until I connect to the iPaq the next time.
My question:
Can Active Sync (or any other utility) synchronize adresses and tasks
between the
built-in databases of the iPaq and some WinXP application (like MS
Outlook)?
Or do I need Pocket Outlook on the iPaq?

I have Outlook Express 6, german version on my laptop and can't find
anything like detect and repair.
Can you please verify that I do *not* need Pocket Outlook on the iPaq
side?
If you can synchronize between your PC and an iPaq, what is listed
under
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\<hex-
partnerID>\Services\Synchronization\Objects\Contact:Store?
In my PC, this is the point where the value is set to <*invalid*>

Reinstalling Active Sync didn't work in the past.
I read something in Microsoft's description of ActiveSync4.5 that it
is intended to sync between Outlook (PC side) and Pocket Outlook (on
the iPaq side).
The sync Options in ActiveSync shows favourites and files with a
checkbox left to it, but appointment, contact, notes and task do not
have a checkbox and on the

OK. I gave up on this.
Now trying to get FinchSync running, but this requires Pocket PC
Windows 2002,
which I do not have. There is press note that HP provided free
upgrades to PPC 2002
for some models of the H3600 series, but there's nothing more about
this on the HP site.
Is there anyone who knows how to get it?
