View Full Version : WM5 and MediaPlayer10 locks up ipaq

I have an issue with my hp ipaq running WM5 and media player10.
If I toggle the power button on the PDA while media player is still
running, it will exibits some unfavorable behavior. The PDA shuts
down, but when the power is turned on, the PDA is locked and does not
respond to any input either via the touchscreen or the keys on the pda
itself. I am required to reset the PDA and start media player again.
It functions, but it is annoying.

I want to add that I store all of my MP3 on a 4GB compact flash card
installed in the PDA. I sometimes store files on an SD card as well.

Does anyone have any information on this particular issue and if I can
resolve it. If it is not resolvable with WMP10, is there another
music player app that won't lock up when the power is toggled?

Thanks.

iPlay and Phantasm don't hang on me. I've
left them off for ages. That's with cache
or without (re: iplay). There may be a
quick stutter or two while the tubes warm up
but no hang. I've a dozen+ PDAs, mostly
iPAQs (3650, 3970, 2210, 4150, 2495b, 5915,
111, 310), and all are fine.

You might want to give a try to

1. other players; I recommend TCPMP, CorePlayer and Conduits' Pocket Player
the most. (Albeit there're several other, decent players as well; for
example, the free (!) GSPlayer or MortPlayer). If they too exhibit the same
problem, try increasing their buffer to even some Megabytes; the latter
would guarantee they wouldn't (necessarily) try to access the
slow-to-initialize card (which causes the problem) upon resuming.

2. alternatively, try playing with the resume time set by
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\PNPUnload Delay - see
