hi to everybody,

I have installed tomtom 6 on a samsung sgh i620 (windows mobile 6)...

(I have installed it directly from the phone, by the file tt6.cab)

Anyway I have a problem with the application.... When I run it, it start
properly but the screen is blocked on the first mage (the one with a
black background, the two red hands and the word "tomtom")...

On the background the tomtom works properly (I can say this because if
I touch some buttoms on the phone, I can hear the voce of the tomtom...)

Also the phone is not blocked (I can do everything!!!)

What is the problem???

Thanks to everybody

Vit

TomTom Navigator 6 is not compatible with all Windows Mobile 6 devices. Have
you checked with TomTom to see if your device is supported? This page:
http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=260&Category=2&Lid=1 doesn't
list any Samsungs.

I have Tom Tom Nav 6 running fine on my XV6800 (Verizon) with WM6. Also runs
on my old XV6700 flashed to WM6. My understanding is HTC has an agreement
with TomTom for WM6 devices, so other devices using WM6 MIGHT not work.
TomTom is typically cautious about listing a device "compatible". Some work
they don't list (they never listed the XV6700, for example, but thousands of
us use it and works perfectly).

That's fair enough that you have unlisted phones working with TomTom
Navigator 6. I knew that list wouldn't be exhaustive and I suspected they'd
be cautious about which phones they did list. On the other hand one
officially supported phone that I'm aware of (the HTC TyTN II) has a number
of issues with TomTom 6 including TomTom provided voices cutting out or not
playing complete commands and TomTom starting up with the crossed through
speaker (no sound available) icon when a (GPRS/GSM) data connection is
active (even though a data connection shouldn't result in no sound).

My point is that for someone who's paid good money for official Tomtom
software, their support people are there specifically to try and sort this
type of thing and should be the first port of call, short of someone here
with that same model advising how they worked around the problems noted by
the o/p.

What do you mean by 'the screen is blocked'?

On my WM6 Classic iPAQ 214 the backlight goes out when TT6 starts
(after the red hands appear) but the light can be turned back on by
removing and re-applying external power.

(Changing the OS backlight settings makes no difference to this
behavior.)

I think you will find there is a patch from TomTom that addresses this
issue...
