View Full Version : Windows Mobile 6 Favorites questions / iPAQ 111
Vickie 01-17-2008, 08:21 AM Hi - I have a new iPAQ 111 pda. I've been bookmarking various
Favorites over the past few days but now I'd like to edit some and I
can't find a way to do it. I can delete/add but can't seem to edit
the names of any bookmarks or view the bookmark properties to edit the
addresses as well.
Also, when I click Menu-->Home from the Internet Explorer mobile main
page I see three options...a large microsoft search bar, a Favorites
button and a History button. When I select the Favorites button there
are 6 favorites already displayed...I'm assuming most often used. I
want to remove one of those which for some reason is no longer working
and replace it with one that is working. (www.google.com/m isn't
working this morning but
wap.google.com is working fine.) I'd like to edit the existing
bookmark to Google mobile but I can't find any way to select a
bookmark and then view/edit it.
How can I rename a bookmark?
How can I edit the address/properties of a bookmark?
Is there a way to control which 6 Favorites display under the initial
Favorites button in the Home area?
(I do not want to synch at this time, as I do not use Outlook for
email and don't need to get the contacts.)
Very frustrated by something that should be simple.
Thanks for any help-
Vickie
Vickie 01-17-2008, 08:27 AM The www.google.com/m link is working again, but I still have the same
question about editing Favorites names and addresses.
Thanks-
Vickie

Vickie 01-17-2008, 08:41 AM So far it looks like I can rename a bookmark by using File Explorer
and navigate to the Windows/Favorites folder. Is this the only way?
I still saw no way to edit the actual address assigned to the bookmark
yet.
Thank you-

Go to the Add/Delete screen, tap an existing bookmark, and the "add" button
should change into an "edit" button.

That home page likely is a file preloaded by HP on the device that allows
quick access to history and favorites.

Probably they were preselected by HP. My T-Mobile PPC had T-Mobile's "My
Account" page as one of the preloaded favorites.

Try "m.google.com/m".

Menu/Favorites/Add-Delete(Tab)/select a favorite then hit "edit."

As part of the edit dialog, you can edit the name.

IIRC, only by editing the devic's registry. Those first favorites are
handled specially by the device, and, IIRC, if you edit them, they drop
into the "regular" favorites.

Immaterial- you can sync just your favorites if you like. For a large
number of favorites that's easier- sync, which creates a "Mobile Favorites"
folder in your PC's favorites, and move or copy any of your desktop
favorites into that mobile folder and they'll sync toyour device.

It is pretty simple, actually.
Victoria Currao 01-20-2008, 10:37 AM Thank you. That was exactly what I was looking for.
The 5 Favorites on the home page are ones I entered into my Favorites
list early on. They were not preselected by HP. It appears as if
they are "most used" although I'd like to be able to alter them
manually.
Thank you.
