hi.
i have 2 ppcs (imate jasjam and hp 6965) and also have 2
smartphones (imate sp5m and htc s620 pro). my problem is that in
every
phone that i have used there is some feature by which the ring of an
incoming call can be silenced without actually cutting the phone.
(jasjam-side scroller, hp-volume keys, sp5m-volume keys) but in this
htc s620 pro smartphone there is no such volume button nor is there a
side jog scroller like in the jasjam. s620 only has a 'jogger' which
is basically a strip along its right facia on which u run ur finger
to
utilize the function you have assigned to it (scroll+incall volume,
only in ear peice volume or ear peice and wm player volume). i tried
sliding my finger to silence the ring on incoming calls b ut it
doesnt
work in any of the functions selected. and since it doesnt have any
other button for volume control, nor for silencing the ring, i dont
know what to do.
thus please help. i need this function. i know its a small thing but
to me it is important....
thanks,
kunal

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're trying to accomplish, but can't
you simply "Ignore" the call with right soft key? It silences the
incoming call and sends it to voicemail.

Here's what I think he is trying to ask. Let's say that his voicemail
will not pick up until after the 4th ring. With many phones, you can
silence the ringer. Perhaps he wearing his phone when the phone rings.
He would like, on a call by call basis, have the ability to silence
the ringer after the first ring while still having the time to decide
if he wants to answer to call or not.

That would 'cut' the phone and send an engage tone to the caller. i
dont want that. i would want the person to hang up himself so that it
seems that i 'm unable to pick up.... eg- while i m in a meeting or
such..... so that i can call back and tell him. otherwise i would have
to kep checking voicemail which i dont like to do thus disengage the
feature always. i odont want to pick up certains calls at certain
times so the continuing ring is a constant irritation. even if i
manually cut the phone, the caller would know i m around....

exactly...... and if i dont want to, all i have to do is just silence
the ringer and let the caller hang up....

please help...

Off the top of my head:
My HTC Wizard switches to vibrate and cuts the speaker if I hold in
the comm manager button.
You could use a phone profile bit of software to switch to silent
quickly - e.g. pocketzenphone or similar. PZP isn't free, but it's
very cheap and adds cool stuff like the ability to automatically
switch to silent when your calendar shows a meeting. I have mine
setup with buttons on the today screen that also allow profile
switching...

thanks Ric. will try it. in the meantime, my problem is exasperated by
the fact that my htc model doesn't have a hardware button for comm
manager. I have to access it through the prog only and not through any
hardware button. + as all windows phone users would know, every
incoming call pops up the call screen which can't be overridden by any
button except the designated accept/ignore buttons, thus the
problem....

thanks, and will try out those softwares... but if u or anyone has
some advice without loading of any profiling software (any other for
mapping buttons will do) or some way without any software, then that'd
great...

thanks again,

kunal

Can you switch from "ringer" to "vibrate"?

hi Doc,

yes i can keep the phone on vibrate, as a matter of fact, i am
currently going by keeping the phone on a profile edited for ringing
only once. but both of these options are inconvenient in as much as i
need to constantly remember to switch profiles when i am leaving the
phone a little away from me but close enough that i would hear the
ring atleast within a couple of rings...
thus the ability to silence the ringer, during an incoming call, when
wanted would be perfection.
