I have created a standalone voice note in Notes on my Pocket PC. I see the
"speaker" icon which plays the note back fine via the Pocket PC. If I try to
synchronize via Activesync, the note which is in a file extension - .PWI
does not want to sync to my PC.
The .PWI file will open in MS Word and I see the graphic "speaker" icon, but
it is only a graphic and has no sound associated with it.
Is there a way to either move that sound into another application within the
Pocket PC (Window 5.0) or the PC so that I can have that audio file by
itself and convert it to another format if necessary?
Thanks!

voice "notes" files (files marked with a speaker icon) are wav files...
they have the extension .wav where actual notes files have the extension
..pwi
if the file icon is a "note" and the speaker icon is "within" the note,
it can only be synced as an outlook data object... extraction options
and how to "sync notes" at;
http://BevHoward.com/bhhpj.htm#Record
http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#Notes
however, even it they are wav files on the ppc, they "sync" as outlook
objects...

Please follow my blog / make sure you serach for the solution if you have a
specific problem - I've published solutions to most problems like this.
I've written a specific tool to extract standalone WAV files embedded in PWI
files. See http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=353778 for
the download.

Werner and Beverly,
Thanks so much. I'm going to try one of your methods for extracting the PWI
file from the message.

Werner,
I went to your link this afternoon and downloaded the file that was for the
Windows Mobile 2003 that you mentioned, since there wasn't one for Windows
Mobile 5.0.
Well, It worked. I copied the cab file to my Dell Axim X51v PDA and it
worded fine. Found all the PWI files and I clicked on the the one's I wanted
to convert. There were only 2 and I was able to successfully convert them to
WAV files. Then copied them over to my PC.
Awesome! thanks so much.
