If you're thinking about buying an iPaq from HP for the security
(encryption) functionality, read this first:
<http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_HH050921_CW01>
----------------------------
Some HP Protect Tools encryption options are "grayed-out" on the HP iPAQ
hx2000 series Pocket PC with the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating
System. Non-selectable options include the following:
* Calendar
* Contacts
* Notes
* Tasks
* The "Keep security after a hard reset" option in the Fail-Safe
settings
-----------------------------
This has been an unresolved issue for over a year (since 2005-09-29).
Bottom line: when they advertise "industry-standard encryption to
protect information stored on your device," there are some BIG caveats.
(My new hx2790b does allow the Notes to be checked, but not the
contacts, calendar, or tasks).
