I just went to do a routine backup and something has gone badly wrong with
my backup and restore facility.

Where I have the drop down box to choose where to back up to, it is supposed
to say in rom or sd card. However the drop down list is blank.

I was going to restore a previous backup to get it back again, however the
restore option has the same blank drop down box, so I cannot browse to my
backup and do any restore.

I am not sure what I can do about it. Please advise :'(

Just click the backup file from inside the built-in Pocket File Explorer;
it'll, hopefully, be recognized by the backup app.

I did that and got an error "there is no program associated with this file".
Seems like something corrupted the backup program although I have no idea
what.
I took a risk and did a hard reset and that fixed the backup enabling me to
use my previous restore file. Sorry I posted before thinking about what I
could do. *Tries to learn not to panic next time*

Can't you just tap the restore file in File Explorer? As long as the
file type has been registered, it should launch the restore program the
same way tapping a .wma file opens Media Player.

Yes I tried that but somehow the file extensions were messed up and tapping
on the backups gave error "no program associated".

All sorted now though, I did a hard reset and the backups were recognised.
