View Full Version : Cingular Sync(a707) can't DUN to Pocket PC

3 days ago I replaced my Motorola Razr with the new Cingular Sync.
Prior to purchasing my new phone I was succesussfully accomplishing
DUN (dial up networking) via bluetooth between either my laptop and or
pocket pc. Laptop is Windows SP OS and PocketPC is WM5. The settings
used were as follows;
Number = *99#
user CINGULAR@GPRS.COM
pass CINGULAR1
And with this life was very very good. The devices were paired and I
was accomplishing all this through a MediaNet package offered by
Cingular for only $20/Month.
Life's not so good anymore however, I have over 7 hours with tech
support and about 1 hour with lvl 3, the only people who understand
what I am trying to accomplish. Here is all that I have tried to get
this phone to network with my laptop or PPC.

I am aware that there are multiple logins to be used such as,
ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, CINGULAR@GPRS.COM and so
on.. It doesn't matter, the sync will not connect. Also they offer a
string you can add to the connection, not sure what that string is
called but I understand where it goes and me and the lvl 3 tech lady
had it in correctly. The string Goes like this
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","isp.cingular"
And with that string you are to dial out a different number such as
*99***1#, and if you changed the string to any number 1-5 like so at
+cgdcont=3,"IP","isp.cingular" you would change the dial out to
*99***3# and so on.
I have tried every setting and even the Level 3 tech lady said she has
not ever had these devices connected via bluetooth successfully, yes
the devices pair properly and it isn't something that simple.
MY Question
Has anyone successfully created a DUN connection via bluetooth with
the Cingular Sync, do you really get 400-700 kbps with the new 3G
network, I was really excited to be mobile at broadband speeds through
my phone.

Well if not, spread the word about this phone, it's nice, fancy, even
seams solid(well built) But why won't it create a Dial Up Network.

The last thing I am going to add is I have tried all these above
settings with a MediaNet Package, a PDA Connect package, (which should
be the same network as a Data Connect Package), and yes I've had the
Data Connect and currently do have it installed on my phone.

Any Answers would be just remarkable, I'm tired of playing with
settings and talking to people that put me on hold and have no clue
about what is going on.
