View Full Version : Backup and WM5

My Axim X51v has gotten very slow to find web pages lately and I've
been getting the Setting/Dismiss dialogue box often from a place that
should have a very good signal (according to my laptop). I read
someplace that the Dec 6 upgrade will speed things up.

So I went to get it and while running it, I got the question or
warming that all data will be lost after the update has been run and
that I should use AtiveSynch to backup. However, accordong to the
helf files on Activesynch, there is no backup for WM5. Am I reading
this correctly? If there is no back up, how do I back up? I have a
bunch of programs in, including a bluetooth keyboard and driver, I
have internet Explorer favorites and lots more..will all that be lost?

What do you all do for backup?

I use Spb Backup to backup to a storage card.
There is no AS backup for WM5 devices.

What is this Dec 6 upgrade and where does one get it?

I also have an Axim X51v but don't have an answer to your problem. Mine has
no such issue as yours.

Good luck in sorting it out.

Yes.

Yes. However, it's not generally a good idea to restore backups made
from one ROM version to another, because it might overwrite new registry
settings designed for the new ROM with the settings fr the old.

Having said that, the newest version of Sprite Backup claims to have a
safe restore-after-ROM update function.

Sprite Backup can do backup to storage card _and_ to Windows computer
via sync cable as well.

Thanks. I went to the Dell Support site a couple of nights ago, downloaded
and installed it. So far no visible difference.
