View Full Version : deleting duff shortcuts?
I have a couple of programs I did not want/did not work and have uninstalled
them. However they have retained shortcuts in the program files section.
Obviously the shirtcuts lead to an error as the program is no longer there.
Is it possible to delete shortcuts no longer used on windows mobile 2003?
Laura 12-07-2006, 11:14 AM Go To START > PROGRAMS > FILE EXPLORER
Use File Explorer to navigate to My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and
delete the icon from there. - click and hold and then you'll see the DELETE
command.

Menu\Programs and delete the shortcuts you don't want.

Great thanks. Sorry for all the silly questions. New to windows mobile and
the supplied manual is cack-a-doo-doo.
Will get there eventually :-)

Thanks. I do have lots of questions, but don't want to push too much.
Maybe later I will do one big post with all my queries on it :-)
One thing I find really annoying is the X to close programs does not
actually close programs so often I have lots of programs running in the
background. Some programs do have a proper exit, but not most. I did
download a little program "magic buttons" or something like that but it does
not seem to work as well as it should and sometimes it does not work at all
and hangs. Do you know of a reliable freeware application that can properly
close programs?

Just speaking of closing programs, have you any experience of GSPocketMagic?

Laura 12-07-2006, 12:27 PM To see what programs are running, press the iTask button, which is the lower
right hand button. This will show you all programs that are running. Now
click and hold on one of them - you can now choose to stop this program or
all programs.
I use Spb Pocket Plus, which is not free, but is a great application.
I also have a website - nicky48.com - which includes my favorite software,
hardware, common questions and links to other valuable resources - it is my
work in progress !

Thanks for the link. I like the links in the boxes, it makes navigation
very easy. I shall have a browse :-)

Well I have spent a good 2 hours looking for one I like and have settled on
GSPocketMagic++ from http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1276
I think its really good, plus get cascading menus which is a bonus.
Thanks for the recommendation. I tried MagicButton and it kinda hosed things
on my iPAQ. Eh, I needed to update the firmware anyways.
I also took a quick look at nicky48.com and I believe I'll be taking a much
more in-depth look when I have a bit more time!
Thanks!
Mike
