View Full Version : How can I modify the Mac address on WM5 for PPC? suncrash 10-31-2006, 06:50 AM Hello, I want to use the same Mac on my Pc and my PPc. thanks, - Alan. Clinton Fitch, MVP-Mobile Devices 10-31-2006, 07:38 AM Hello, I do not believe there is any way to change the MAC address on the device. This question has come up several times in this group and I don't remember seeing a solution and a Google search comes up empty. It could be that it is possible and I am just not aware of how to do it but I don't think so. That said, there are options for pc's to do so, so use one of those to set your pc to the ppc's address to get them to match... and then only when only one is connected to the network at a time. also, be aware that you will be prevented from any reliable communication between your ppc and pc. If this is in connection with using a router or modem to connect online, most of them now allow you to "Clone" the PC's MAC address. Doing this means the router appears to the ISP as if it's your original PC - and anything behind it does as well - so both your PC and PDA can connect through the router. I'm pretty sure there are only a few unenlightened ISPs still doing this trick now, and router manfacturers have long since got round it using this clone idea, Cheers - Neil ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2006 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs |
