Hi guys,
I'm using a Dell Axim X51v with WM5 and I'm hoping there is a version
of Access that will run on it or another Database application that I
can run on it and sync to Access 2003.
I'm quite capable of creating a simple database in Access 2003 and use
VBA to tie it together but I need to then be able to run this database
on my pocket PC for data entry and retrieval, and then sync it to my
desktop for backup.
Any suggestions appreciated,
Kim

SprintDB is what I would have recommended too, but I want you to be aware of
a few things.
1) MS no longer supports the conduit that allows Access data to be
transferred to a PPC for use with PPC DB programmed like SprintDB. The guys
at KioneSoft have gotten around this, but I am concerned about the future of
the .mdb<>.cdb life. Any of the PPC products that indicate they work with
..cdb format, will suffer from this transfer issue.
2) There is no option for running an Access DB on the PPC, or converting it
to a PPC application. All the options allow data transfer (read tables), and
nothing else. You will be spending time creating a usable user interface on
the PPC independently of the Access DB. For developing on the PPC, SprintDB
is the most Access-like IMHO. That is, if you are comfortable with access
forms, queries, etc, the learning curve for SprintDB isn't to steep.
3) and this is just hearsay, There is the option of using SQL Mobile on the
PPC and there is a method to transfer Access data to the PPC. I have no
insight at this time to how hard or easy it is to create something usable on
the PPC with this option. It is however, likely what will be sustainable.
SQLMobile is what MS has settled on presently for mobile DB offerings. My
hope is that the SprintDB folks will take up the challenge to rework their
product to leverage this.
Someone will recommend HanDBase, at some point. Great product, and has
Desktop and PPC complementary versions. It is not hampered by MS's decision
to deprecate .cdb and ADOCE. IMHO though it has never had a nice clean
interface if your desktop data is in existing Access DBs. They have a
capability to support that, but it is not very friendly.

What about XSDesigner and XSForms from Granadasoft?
