I've had to re-install AS 4.2 on my pc.

Now all I get is AS 4.2 "Looking for changes" but not actually synching with
my pc.

I can explore the pda but no synching takes place nor to any items appear to
be available for synching.

Can someone lead me to a solution?

If you are plugging in via a USB hub, try plugging in directly to a USB
port on your PC.
