Hi I think Im running 2001 or 2002 mobile os on my IPaq3950. When I look in
the about screen it says Microsoft Pocket PC
version 3.0.1171 (build 11178)

Where could I find out if this cn be updated to say 2003 at least?

Is there a benefit in doing so?

Typically OS versions have to come from the manufacturer of the hardware
device, so you have to ask you PocketPC vendor.

Certainly I thought that PocketPC 2003 was better then PocketPC 2002, and I
really like WM5.

Seem to remember that the 39xx series had an upgrade to 2002 that was
sold, then withdrawn from the market shortly thereafter.

Post the info at start/setting/system/about for your unit to determine
what os it is running... if it's 2002, no further upgrade is possible,
if not, finding a copy that's specific to your device is your only option.
