Hello all, love my Ipaq but it is kinda irritating with the small
amount of built in memory. Nevertheless, I have a 2GB SD, 1GB miniSD
and another 2GB miniSD is on the way (thank you, Ebay). Only thing is
I have to reset my Ipaq every so often after I use certain progs and I
imagine it's because of temp files they create and clog up my Main
Memory. 2 perfect examples of these are Pocket IE and Opera. Is
there any way to change the default location for their temp files
(cache) to the SD cards. I wouldn't mind having those two progs store
ALL their stuff on the expansion cards, e.g. bookmarks, history files,
etc. I'm sure there would probably be a slight hit on performance for
the programs but I'd rather that then having to reset my Ipaq every
few hours. Thanks for any/all info and any other memory saving
hints..

What you want to do is able to be done by hacking the registry - but knowing
where is the key (pun intended).
You need Tweaks2K2.NET
It allows you to change all sorts of settings for system, video, file
storage etc, without resorting to hacking the registry. And you can't stuff
up - it senses what system you're running (2003/SE/WM5/phone) and disables
the tweaks that are gonna muck up your device.
I've used it to move all cookies, email and PIE cache files to my 1gig SD -
saves the system bogging down when PIE fills the internal memory.
I think the website is www.tweaks2k2.com
Email me if you want details.
Oh, and if you're gonna use PIE then I recommend you get Multi-ie
(www.multiie.com) coz PIE is a really bad browser, but it's fast and with
the extensions loaded - it gives it tabs and heaps of other nifty little
options.
I tried to use Minimo - but my Asus A716 couldn't handle it, was soooo slow.
I'm stuck with PIE.

BTW, there're more alternate browsers in addition to Minimo: for example,
Opera Mobile (the best IMHO) and NetFront (not that good but still much
better than PIE)
Also, in addition to MultiIE, you may also want to check out PIEPlus (see
review in my blog).
