View Full Version : WM 5.0 ::: is there VB runtime available?
Denis 08-07-2006, 11:02 AM Hi,
I'm trying to find VB runtime compatible with WM 5.0, but so far seems
to me that there's no such thing at the moment... Thus, my older
applications simply don't work on my WM5.0. Is that possible?
Thnaks!
/Denis
John Gale 08-07-2006, 11:09 AM Hi,
Go here.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windowsmobile/downloads/evb_eula.aspx
I assume when you say "VB" you mean eVb? ...
This runtime allows our eVb 3.0 programs to run on our WM5 devices (Dell
Axim X51v + T-Mobile MDA Compact II)

Thanks... but they don't specify WM5.0 as compatible? They only say
that WM 2002 and WM 2003 are supported.
John Gale 08-07-2006, 12:15 PM Well like I say, It does work on the Windows Mobile 5 devices i've
tested on. It was tested on 5 Axims and 2 MDAs.

Dick Grier 08-07-2006, 02:04 PM It is not supported. It (probably; it should) will run.

"supported" means different things to different entities... imho, in
this case, the "not" is a "CYA" assurance... emphasis on the "ass" ;-)

Thanks... I've just tried to install it on my IPAQ (WM5.0).
Unfortunatelly, it could NOT install, telling -- install unsuccessful.
:(
And no trace of it in Remove programs.

Which applications are these... ones you wrote or general purpose apps?
If the latter, please list a few of the app names that don't run.
Note... if they are i/o related, that could be an issue.

Werner \Menneisyys\ Ruotsalainen [MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices] 08-08-2006, 01:06 AM On WM5, unlike in previous OS'es, you can only install eVB to the main
memory. Try installing it in there.

That might be a good advice, I tried previously to install it on SD (as
usual). I'll try! thanks.
The application that I aim to run is PocketAMP, capable of playing MIDI
files (I sometimes use to compose music on my synth). That one needs
eVB and was working before on WM 2003.

Thanks a lot, I was using eVB only for that application - I'll try this
one, looks great!
