View Full Version : PC restarts when i try to connect with activesync

I have a windows XP home edition SP2 and a O2 XDA mini running windows
mobile 5

My problem is that i am unable to connect the two using activesync via
USB. The software installs ok and i go to set up a partnership which
goes fine up to the point of actually connecting whereupon my PC
promptly restarts.

I have exactly the same problem if i try and install a bluetooth
dongle, as soon as that tries to connect to anything (not just my PDA)
my PC restarts.

Anyone any advice please??

So do you mean that your PC actually restarts , or does it just crash?

Hi laura

It actually restarts, most frustrating, I'm assuming that there is a
conflict somewhere but have no idea what to do? i certainly don't want
to re-install windows :-(

by any chance are you using McAfee internet security ? strangely I have a
machine that it can happen on from time to time - i connect my pda and pc
restarts. I changed usb ports and it seemed to help.

Dave,

Tried that but i couldn't spot any spesific errors relating to the
crash?

I've noticed that it crashes just at the point where the 'Receiving
settings' message appears, could that be significant?
