When opening a large (297 entries) contacts category it takes a long time to
display the contacts. If I change the 'view by' to 'name' vs 'company' it is
fast, in 'company' view it takes about 40 seconds! Another category with 197
entries opens fast in either view. Any idea why? I have a new UT Starcom PPC-
6700. This is very aggravating! Thanks.

I have 3000 entries and it takes 60 seconds by company. If it is by name it
takes 1 seconds. I think this is bug of WM5.

This is a known problem with WM5. Use an alternate PIM app - they cache
these items in RAM so listing contacts will be faster.
This has already been discussed in this newgsroup; give the newsgroup a
search.

It only takes a few seconds viewing either way with over 2400 contacts.
Now viewing tasks is a different story. I only have around 750 tasks but it
takes 13 seconds to open up the Task program not matter what. Once Tasks is
open it is pretty fast. I cannot delete the tasks as they are used to track
project history.
Any recommendations for viewing tasks faster?

Sorry for not finding the old thread...
Having just purchased an HP 2795, I'm again surprised at this. This is my
third WinCE device, and all have had lousy contacts, except the first. That
version was too 'complicated' and they have dumbed it down ever since...
My two main complaints are a) speed and b) lack of ability to search (or
goto) an entry begining with a search string, preferable using either sort
type. IOW, search for 'St' goes to people or companies that begin with
'St', not every entry that has 'St' in the sort selection. I'm in the music
business, and do you have any idea how many contacts have the word
'production' in them? I just want to go to companies that begin with
'production'...
People want more than a toy for $300 - $500. What causes this? Lousy beta
program? Lack of betas with large phone books (I have about 10K)? MSFT can
make Office work for users who don't even use the help system and also for
power users. Why have they always failed to do so with WinCE?
