how are you opening word? for example, if you are trying to open it by
tapping a large word document, there will be huge delays while word
attempts to read the document into memory.
suggest you go to the \windows directory, find the "pword" file that's
over 200k and tap that to see if it's a shortcut or other problem.

If tapping on the exe in the \windows directory has the same result, you
are almost out of options.
The _only_ suggestion I can make other than a hard reset is to check
your available memory and if it is low, to free up several mb and see if
word will then open.
