View Full Version : iPAQ 3950 Serial Number Location?
John E. Golden 06-20-2006, 06:42 AM Hello,
I just bought a nice iPAQ 3950 off eBay. I always record the Serial
Numbers of my things, but I can't find this SN. Any ideas?
Regards,
John E. Golden

Werner \Menneisyys\ Ruotsalainen [MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices] 06-20-2006, 01:03 PM Sorry, ignore my previous post - the 39xx battery is not swappable. Isn't
the sticker present on the 39xx back case any more? It's there that iPAQ's
with non-swappable batteries (should) have their S/N.

I have an ipaq 2495. It came with an app in the settings page called HP
Asset Viewer. That shows the serial number (along with a bunch of other
information), which must be burned in the ROM.

Scooby,
Thanks very much. My iPAQ 3950 also had this "Asset Viewer," but it
doesn't say HP. I think my Compaq 3950 was made just before HP purchased
Compaq. Anyway, I found my units Serial Number there.

Wow, I hope this is not correct. My iPAQ 3950 was the last Compaq iPAQ
just before HP bought Compaq, if I understand correctly. It cost about
$650.00 when it was introduced about four years ago. Also, I can find iPAQ
3950 batteries for sale on many different websites.

Werner \Menneisyys\ Ruotsalainen [MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices] 06-20-2006, 11:14 PM The battery in the 39xx series isn't swappable. Those are replacement
batteries - you need to open up the device casing to replace them.
