View Full Version : Vista WMDC sync?

Mitch _A

Ive been trying to use the newest Vista Windows mobile device center to sync
my Pocket PC to Vista/Outlook 2007 (using the latest update) but for the
life of me I dont know how to
create an account using the supplied wizard/muse. I just want to sync using
my local .pst
but it seems Outlook/WMDC want some sort of wireless sync server. Any
ideas?

I believe there is an update on Windows Update for the Mobile device centre
for Vista.
My 2003 phone doesn't like to sync to Vista (but as it syncs over the air, I
haven't bothered to find out why).
My Axim (WM5) syncs well at least once per boot to Vista - although the sync
is not yet fully stable. I didn't need to create anything, it just found the
device and syncs it. The 2003 device is never found.

Yes Im using the latest. I can do pretty much everything I need except
Outlook inbox/Contacts/Colander. Says Outlook isnt configured. When trying
to setup Outlook it offers a wizard but Verizon doesnt have a server listed.
Id prefer to just use my original PST through cradle anyway..

Thanks anyway

If you have a 2003 device, syncing is not yet supported. MS assures us it
will be, but right now just WM5.

Running betas (e.g. Vista) isn't supposed to be "easy"! Its supposed to be
fun, technically enjoyable and a challenge!!

Actually it not working at all would be somewhat less frustrating than the
experience I'm having with it.

Yes I understand that but a couple words somewhere stating it will not work
would be much easier than fighting something that YOU BELIEVE will work :)

Mobile Device Center is a total peice of trash. It worked once and
then never more. I've tried hours and hours of working with it
unistalling, reinstalling, registry hacks etc. ONE TIME I got it to
sync my MS Money 2006, and never again. Now it routinely locks up when
I try to go to the Content sync area.

Beta's are for testing purposes looking for final bugs, functionality
flaws and look-and-feel feedback. Vista 5384 is Alpha code. Too much
stuff doesn't work at all. XP by Beta 2 was very solid. Vista 5384
and "Mobile Device Center" are total trash. No wonder it won't make
deadlines, Allchin got demoted and Gates stepped away. Vista 5384 is a
total embarassment, and this comes from a professional who has been a
total MS fan and relied on MS tech for a paycheck for a LONG time.

5456 is out - I can't believe you're complaining about a Beta being a
Beta though !
