Hello all,
Having just reformatted and re-installed everything on my desktop, I had to
go to the AvantGo website to re-install theirs as well and noticed they had
a new beta with syncing directly from the PDA rather then via Activesync so
I decided to give it a try. In a word, awesome. It also now will sync
wirelessly. My test was on my Axim X51v so I can only guess how well it
will work on other pda's but for mine, it's amazing and the wifi sync is
quite fast. Whether connected to the desktop or with the WiFi, a sync is
MUCH faster than before.

Nuff said...I'm starting to sound like a shill.

fwiw, it's been possible to sync directly to the ppc for most of the
avantgo versions since it was introduced.

Once installed and having gone through the first pc sync, check the
options on the ppc... when connected, simply select sync all

The beta is a bit different. It seems that if you want to synch while
cradled, you actually have to go to the PPC and have it synch (the
activesync function merely syncs your account details - a minor step
backward in that direction IMHo)

Having said that, it is indeed faster to synch.
