After you exit seemingly every program on the WM5, it stays in memory.
That's fine for programs I use all the time. NOT fine for programs I'm
gonna use once a year, or which I launch accidentally.
Is the only way to temporarily launch a program to exit, then go to
Settings and step thru the relatively numerous-ish steps to stop it?

Thanks much for lightning fast reply.
I don't know what Magic Button is, but I'll sure as hell find out.
Thanks.

Google it, its a free app.
Also, bring up the keyboard and press CTRL + Q, in most apps that will
close it.

There are a number of "Task Managers" which allow you to both switch to
or (really) close apps.
I use VBar as it takes a minimalist approach plus it converts the "X"
from "minimize" to "close" It also allows you to selectively close
currently open apps or a single tap to close them all.
finally, almost all apps which do not have a menu "exit" option such as
the default ms apps, will close by tapping <ctrl-q>

Thanks for add'l great replies.
It's great that Win keystrokes like Ctrl-Q have full-desktop
functionality.
I'll check into VBar too.

Ihave downloaded VBar V2.2 and when I try to install on my T-Mobile MDA WM5
phone I receivee: VBar22 is not a valid Pocket PC application. I tried to
install other TMs with no success. Any suggestions?
