Hi,
does anyone know how to get a Sandisk Wifi card with 256MB of memory to
work with Pocket PC 2003?
I can get the wifi to work but the memory isn't recognised. I know the
memory works as I have tried it on another IPAQ that was PPC2002.
Failing a patch does anyone know how I can reflash my IPAQ back to PPC2002.
TIA
Iain

Hello,
I know some people in the past have used the Socket driver (same card,
different brand) as the one from SanDisk has been problematic. You may want
to investigate that route to see if that will solve the issue.

Not sure why you need a patch? I had one of these working fine in a
MIO168 Pcocket PC 2003. I just used the drivers which came with the
card. Both WIFI and memory worked fine.

Sanddisk, Wifi with 256mb has always had multiple problems. Use in a Sprint
(audiovox) 6600, Rom 1.35.00 w/we, 01/13/05, IntelPXA263 400mhz.
PPC 2003, build 14132
Problems:
SD Memory is recognized 1 out of 25 card inserts
WiFi card is recognized 1 out of 50 card inserts
1 out of 200 WiFi card inserts results in a hardware reset on the PPC (which
is a real PIA when you are away from your sync workstation
for a 7 day stretch when it happens)
Anytime the PPC is powered off, the next insert of the WiFi will require a
PPC soft reset to recognize the WiFi card is present
Communication with Sandisk resulted in a curt, we are not making the
separate WiFi SD cards, have no plans to upgrade / bug fix the existing
ones. Request to SanDisk tech support for access to source code to allow me
to understand and tweak the code resulted in a curt, sorry, Sandisk
intellectual prop.
Investigation into the Reg settings
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\SDBusDriver]
"ThreadPriority"=dword:0000000a
"PowerUpPollingInterval"=dword:00000008
"BusDriverHandle"=dword:00526e40
"Order"=dword:00000030
"RequestListDepth"=dword:000000c8
"PowerUpPollingTime"=dword:00000000
"Prefix"="SDC"
"Dll"="SDBusDriver.dll"
"SDIOSpecRevisionNumber"=dword:00000001
, their meanings and value settings have resulted in a dead end.
Trial and error have yielded:
a value of zero (0) in PowerUpPollingTime results in a reduced number of
hang conditions on WiFi card insert.
a reduced number (8) in PowerUpPollingInterval yields a greater number of
WiFi hotspot recognitions
Other values above have been tweaked all over the map but no better trend
was identified by changing their values.
I gave Socket driver a try, but had no luck getting the pegas drivers that
came with the SanDisk, completely uninstalled. I had no improvement in
socket driver but it could have been a conflict.
I have tap on one side of the SD card to increase the pressure of the
contacts
I had a friend with an Axiom plug the SD card in and his Axiom recognizes
the SD memory first time, every time.
