View Full Version : Pocket PC and Dictonary
zrogers 06-03-2006, 11:12 AM Is there anyway to teach PPC new words that it can suggest as you are
typing? I noticed there is a folder
"My Documents/Dictonaries" which contains a file (mywords.dct) viewing it
with a text reader, it is blank.
What is this file for?
Golden 06-03-2006, 03:33 PM Additional suggestion dictionary words are stored in
\Windows\dyncompdict.dat file.
Best Regards...

Do the edits made with this survive a soft reboot?

Steph Peters delete invalid from incm@sandbenders.demon.co.uk.invalid
Tatting, lace & stitching page <http://www.sandbenders.demon.co.uk/index.htm>
I downloaded it, but it won't make any difference. The words stored and saved in the temp
or main dictionary do NOT pop up in the window, as you type.
Can you please help ?
Thanks,
Mike

Daboo 06-05-2006, 11:30 AM If you load the Main Dictionary through the menu system on the
Dictionary Editor app in the link above, you'll find you can adjust the
relative weight of each word used. That will bring them up as you
write.
Note that the word popup won't suggest anything under four letters
anyway. And the suggestions that pop up tend to favor longer words to
save you the effort of writing. So "God" doesn't show up. Most of the
time "Jessica" shows up for me, instead of "Jesus". But it's still
better than nothing.
You can also adjust how many words (1-4) pop up to give you more
options, and maybe some of those in your custom dictionary. The
tradeoff is the amount of space they take up on your screen as you
write. I found two words is a nice balance of giving me the words I
will probably use to save time and screen space.
Good luck,
Chris
