I have foudn three, and 'CalcNow' is the best, IMO.

Are there any better free programs?

By better, I mean a layout that looks more like the classical HP Scientific
Calculator.

Cool Calc $19.95. I haven't found any free ones.

But then I figure, hey if I can spend $400
for a device can splurge and spend $19.95.

Thanks, but you figure differently than I.

I've found when you get free software, you get what you
paid for. I've usually found free software less than
useless.

Well, Barnabas, some of my favorite software is free, e. g., XNews, the
Newsgroup Reading Software on which I'm reading your answer.

Expand your thinking. Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you
pay for it and don't get it, and sometimes you get it for nuthin'.

And another thing, Barney baby...CalcNOW, the free RPN Scientific
Calculator software I spoke of is not too shabby.

I usually try to avoid reading Usenet Newsgroups on my ppc. I wait
until I get home and use it on my DSL line at home.

I've tried some of the free software, they generally sucked.

Sometimes it' better to just spend the $10-$30 to buy the software,
you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't know. I tried using it one time and it didn't work.

The best, IMHO, is the Lygea HP15C emulator
http://www.lygea.com/pocket15csedetail.htm

It's not free, but it's as close to an exact replica as you're going to
find. There are HP48 emulators for the Pocket PC - but I found I didn't
really care for them very much and they were a pain to install and
configure...not the least of which is you have to own an HP48 and clone
a binary image of it's ROM to use these legally. (which I do, but I
still found it a pain).

The other freeware RPN calc I use is by Tom Boldt -
http://tom.boldt.ca/rpncalc.html . It doesn't look at all like an HP
Calc and you have to know the functions like the back of your hand to
use it...but since I do, and it's very fast and been around for quite
awhile...I got into the habit of using this one years ago and still find
myself going back to it.

But, again, IMHO, the $21 for the Lygea HP15C SE is the way to go.

On your recommendation I bought the Lygea HP 15c emulator. Looks
wonderful. and clue where I can get some docs on the 15C?? The help
files, while helpful, are a bit sparse.
