I have been playing with my new IPAQ 3970 for a week now. I have downloaded
programs, some ebooks, and even played with the embedded VB program to make
programs for it.

My question is, Is there some upgrades that I absolutely should apply to the
basic load of IPAQ? I mean, are there bug-fixes out, OS upgrades, that are
essential? I am not connecting to the internet with it. I sync to Outlook
on my office computer which is protected from viruses, do I need virus
protection on the IPAQ?

advice and opinions welcome

You probably should download the End User Update 3 from HP/Compaq. This
will give you all the updates rolled into one package.

There are few Pocket PC virus' though your Pocket PC can carry a virus to
your desktop. You should be ok if you have a good updated virus checker on
your desktop, though there are a few available if you really want the added
security.
