I am looking for a decent piece of security software / freeware to lock my
Dell Axim X50. Something kinda hi-tech gadgety, yet also secure. Something
along the lines of voice recognition or something equally impressive, yet at
the same time, secure
Any suggestions?

Is there some reason why the built in password is insufficient?
For five years, it's proven pretty impenetrable to anything stored in RAM.

I recall an app that allowed you to have a picture as a security screen and
you had to tap certain spots in order....like Bev said tho, why go past the
password (unless like me you bought a ipaq 5550 with fingerprint
recognition)

If you want the last word in corporate security software for Pocket PC take
a look at Safeguard PDA at
http://www.utimaco.com/content_products/sg_pda.html
It ain't freeware, that's for sure.

The built in password, as Beverly suggested, works quite well, even for
Activesync attempts with other computers. However, do note that while RAM
is protected, a storage card is not. Beverly points this out in big bold
letters, but it bears restating. On such a protected device reading any data
that is kept on a storage card that is not encrypted by some other means
only requires popping out the card and inserting into another reader.
One possible solution is to use the password on the device and some kind of
encryption program for data on said card. Personally I like to use Tombo
for text items, since it incorporates blowfish and can encrypt individual
files with different passwords, along with a desktop component for reading
and modification. Add in a sync program that can handle the card
(mightysync, etc.) and you have a fairly secure storage mechanism for lots
of secure data in text form that can move between platforms.
There are other programs as well, some free like tombo and equally as good,
some not free but quite good as well. Tombo can be found at:
