View Full Version : iPaq WiFi latching onto wrong AP

My iPaq hx2410 insists on latching onto this specific AP and refuses
to get rid of it. Tried "remove settings" it just stays there.
MY AP has SSID disabled and a WEP key, so I configured a manual
network. This works when there's nothing else in the vicinity, but
there's this other one nearby and the WiFi Manager INSISTS on
connecting to that one, and only that one.

Hitchhiker doesn't see my AP and I don't think it can support an AP
with SSID broacast off. Unless there is a newer version I don't know
about.

Any advice other than to remind me that the built in WiFi manager
sucks?

Unfortunately, in my experience, using the "remove settings" works fine
until I do a soft reset -- as you've already found.

You might try Wi-Fi- Companion, available from Socket Communications or
through Handango.

Try setting up a bogus encryption and Wep key for that AP... since the
connection will then fail, the connection should then be made to the
next available ap.
