View Full Version : Does MS pocket streets 2005 supported intermediate driver of WM5.0? sun_home_tw@msn.com 02-21-2006, 04:59 AM Hi, Who knows the Pocket streets 2005 whither supported intermediate driver of GPS or not? Thanks! Bill Sven 02-21-2006, 11:03 PM Not sure the question is really understood. Can you give an example of what you mean or more detail? If you are asking if Pocket Streets works with the WM5 GPS control panel that can redirect the comm port, yes, it does work. -- Sven MVP - Mobile Devices <sun_home_tw@msn.com> wrote in message news:1140515960.528982.76150@g14g2000cwa.googlegro ups.com... > Hi, > > Who knows the Pocket streets 2005 whither supported intermediate > driver of GPS or not? > Thanks! > > Bill > sun_home_tw@msn.com 02-22-2006, 12:43 AM Thanks Sven and Beverly. Thank you, has the Pocket streets 2005 get GPS date over this driver I mean that. On the MSDN: The GPS Intermediate Driver is useful to developers writing applications that use GPS (Global Positioning System) devices as well as to GPS hardware manufacturers. It is useful because it provides an intermediate layer that abstracts the actual GPS device from developers and manufacturers. Ideally, this enables application developers to write code that works with any GPS hardware, and GPS device manufacturers to produce hardware that works with any application. Thanks! Sven 02-22-2006, 11:28 PM That's kind of a developer question. Bev's more a dev than I, and there is a microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer newsgroup too. My guess though is, yes, I would guess it works. I would assume the GPS Control panel takes advantage of that abstraction layer. It also has the advantage of creating a virtual port that is not constrained by having only one connection. That is I can have both Mapopolis and Pocket Streets connected to virtual port 5 at the same time and have the control panel connect that to actual port 4 where the GPS data is being received. Doesn't seem to work with every GPS app I've played with, but it does for those two at least. -- Sven MVP - Mobile Devices <sun_home_tw@msn.com> wrote in message news:1140587016.993522.234060@g14g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > Thanks Sven and Beverly. > > Thank you, has the Pocket streets 2005 get GPS date over this driver I > mean that. > > On the MSDN: > The GPS Intermediate Driver is useful to developers writing > applications that use GPS (Global Positioning System) devices as well > as to GPS hardware manufacturers.
