View Full Version : Partial synchronisation problem

I have just bought an iPAQ rx1950 with OS 5.0 and want to synchronise
with an PC with XP, Outlook 2000 SP3 and ActiveSync 4.1

The problem is that the synchronisation works well with notes &
contacts but will only copy the Calendar from the IPAQ to the PC and
not visa versa.

I have been on the phone to HP and have tried hard & soft resets,
ActiveSync 3.8 & 4.0

To be honest I am running out of ideas. I suspect that something on
the PC is stopping the information from flowing.

Any ideas???

Steven,

See if this helps.

In ActiveSync 4.1, go to Tools>Options. Highlight your Windows PC (the
name, not anything under it) and click the Settings.... button. Set the "If
There is a Conflict" to replace the items on your device. This will force
your PC to push everything on the calendar in Outlook to your Device.

Hope this helps,

That is exactly what I have as a setting!

I am tempted to sell this ipaq and buy another palm!

Steve,

And you are using ActiveSync 4.1 correct? If you are using 4.0, get 4.1 as
it may solve the issue.

If you have 4.1, I'm assuming you've done a soft reset or two on the device?

Has this ever worked?

Thanks,

I have tried ActiveSync 3.8 , 4.0 and 4.1 none of which solved the
problem

A colleage has suggested that the Firewall (McAfee?) has blocked the
TCP ports so that will be tomorrows task!

I am having a similar issue with an HP iPAQ 5450. I can push items
from the calendar out to Outlook and the Exchange server, but cannot
get items from the Exchange server on to the device.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

The itesm that go device to PC: Can you modify those on the PC and see the
changes back on the device? If so, there is AS4.1 is working, and there are
no firewall issues etc.

If you have anti-spam etc. s/w active on the PC, this can prevent files
moving off your computer, but allow things moving onto it.

If you can sync some items, but not all, try:
- Select one type of item only (e-mail, calendar, contacts). Don't try to
sync the rest yet.
- Move all items out of the default folder.
- Make sure things still sync from the device and back.
- Move items back into the default folder gradually, checking the sync. See
which item is causing the problem.

If you don't get the changes device to PC to device synced, then:
I would suspect a firewall or anti-virus / anti-spam filter somewhere.
Disable them all and try again.
Also, a re-install of Outlook 2003 has proven useful to some people.

There is an ineresting development ... I can now get the calendar to
sync as long as it is offline.

It would appear that when online Activesync tries to connect to the
server
