I have a compatibility issue with Windows CE and Win2000.
I have two (2) handheld devices, one is a LG Phenom and
the other a Rimm Blackberry R957. Both worked perfectly
with Windows 98SE and both where connected to Comport 1
and 2 respectivly. Now that I upgraded my system to
Windows 2000 I cannot even install these devices on my
system, never mind synchronize. The messages I receive
continually are (use the "Serial Settings" dialog under
the options menu to specify the serial port you wish to
use).
I have looked for the options menu to configure the serial
port settings for about six weeks now, but cannot find it.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Your help is
greatly appreciated.
Thank you, RDH

Hm. Are you trying to install the original Windows CE Services software
that came with your Phenom? If so, you may not be able to finish
installation under Windows 2000 since CE Services isn't completely
compatible. The upside is that Activesync 3.6 will probably do everything
that CE Services could do, and correctly detect and use serial ports under
Windows 2000. The bad news is, you won't have access to special features
like Activesync Internet Passthrough.
Activesync 3.6 is available to download from Microsoft's mobile device
webpage, and should be self-explanatory. http://www.microsoft.com/mobile
For the record, the Phenom is a Handheld PC and not a Pocket PC. You might
find more users (and more useful information) in a newsgroup specifically
geared towards those devices, like comp.sys.handhelds or the MS-sponsored
microsoft.public.handheldpc. Hope that's helpful.
-KKC, who's trying to find an implementation of the old EA game Starfox
suitable for playing on a Pocket PC. I may be nuts enough to go write one
myself, if I have to...
