View Full Version : Switching off reminders on Ipaq HX 2700

Hi,

I have upgraded from a Ipaq 5455 to a IPaq HX2700 running Windows
Mobile

I don't want the ipaq to display any calendar event reminders - I'm
near a PC most of the day and have the reminders pop up in Outlook on
the pc. - The Ipaq is not connected by active sync to this PC but is
to my PC at home. My Outlook .PST file with calendar, contacts etc is
copied between my home and office pc via a USB hard drive.

On the Ipaq under Settings Personal | Sounds and Notifications |
Notifications | Event | Reminders - all boxes are unchecked - yet I
still get a message balloon with a reminder and a bell symbol showing
in the top line status bar.

My old Ipaq 5455 running PocketPC 2002 didn't have this problem.

Regards

Splowe.

On your Pocket PC, when you're creating the calendar events, are you sure
that you've changed the default "Remind Me" to "None"? And, when you're
creating them on your PC, are you unchecking the "Reminder" box?

Hi

Most of the reminders are reoccurring reminders created on the PC, the
reminder box is checked so that the reminder pops up on the PC.

Maybe I've got it wrong but I would have expected that is all the
reminder boxes in settings on the PocketPC are left unchecked that the
reminder would not be displayed on the PocketPC - if the setting is
ignored what's the point of the user being able to change it ?

Thanks,

Regards

Splowe.

I hadn't tested that exact scenario... Just to make sure I'm getting this
right, you create the appointments on the PC and sync them to your Pocket
PC. Then, when you turn the reminder off on your Pocket PC, they still come
on?

Here's what I did:

Created appointment on PC, with a reminder set.
Synched Calendar with Pocket PC (automatically).
Opened appointment on Pocket PC and set reminder to "None."
Pocket PC synched automatically with PC.
Appointment on PC updates to have NO reminder.

When I followed those steps, the reminders did NOT sound on either the
Pocket PC or PC. Or am I understanding you correctly?

Hi Brad

Create the appointment on the PC with reminder set.
On The PPC check the global settings for not sounding or displaying
reminders are all unchecked.

Sync with the PPC.
At the time of the appointment you should get a reminder on the PC but
not on the PPC - however the PPC also displays the reminder.

What result do you get ?

Regards

Steve.

Huh. You're right. Even though I set the Pocket PC to specifically NOT play
a sound or show a message, the message DID still appear!

Even when I create an appointment on the Pocket PC, the message still shows
up when the Reminders message, sound, light and vibrate are all turned off!

Hi Brad,

I've raised a support issue over this with HP - what make / model of
PPC are you using ?

Regards

Steve.
