View Full Version : Wifi Connection Troubles with Windows Mobile 5.0

My company recently got me a Qtek 9100 pocket pc. Overall it's pretty
cool, but I still haven't managed to connect to a wifi network.

At work I have access to several unprotected networks in the
neighborhood. I can connect to all of them with my laptop. Windows
Mobile detects them and tries to connect... but never actually gets
connected. It basically hops back and forth from one connection to
another eventually bothering my with an annoying message that it can't
make a connection.

When I try to connect to the internet, it tells me that a connection is
impossible with the current settings.

I've enabled the wireless connection under the connection manager.
According to my instruction booklet, that's all I should need to do for
it to work.

Does anybody know what's wrong?

Hello,

My guess is that there is something configured - WEP/WPA settings or
something along that lines that your device doesn't like. Make sure in your
Wireless configuration tool that you have it set to connect to the Internet
and the authentication set to None or Open (assuming there is no network
key).

Also, make sure that the wireless network you are connecting to will accept
802.11B connections. 802.11G (which is 54MB/sec instead of 11MB/sec as it
is in B) can be configured to only accept .11b connections. If that is the
case, you are out of luck.

Hope this helps,
