Make sure the time zone on the PPC is the same as the PC you are syncing to.

Thanks James, but it is, this is not the reason for the problem

I think it wants to make sure you're awake.

Does your pda feel warm when trying to stop the ringing? I have had that
before. My pda was in some kind of endless loop and got real warm and
draining the battery.
