View Full Version : Cannot open contacts on Pocket PC

I have a Toshiba e330 Pocket PC. All was working well until today. I
went to click on a contact and it wouldn't open the information.
Unfortunatly I had to turn the battery off and back on again, this
fixed the problem but, I lost all the notes I had on the e330. The
question I have is, has anyone else run into this problem? If so, how
did you fix it?

I have had this happen on my Axim. I did a soft reset and the contacts came
back up.

Duckman,

Thank you for your reply. This may be a stupid question but, how do
you do a soft boot?

Thanks,

Jeff

You should have soft reset. I'm not familiar with the e330 hardware, but
there's probably a reset button somewhere that you can poke with your
stylus. Check your manual.

A soft reset is akin to rebooting a PC. It sounds like what you did by
disconnecting the battery is what's known as a hard reset - it wipes the
device clean and is equivalent to reformatting a PC's hard disk (though
you don't have to reinstall Pocket PC, as it's in ROM).

Assuming you've wiped your e330 clean, it's time to restore your backup
(if you have one), or set up a new partnership with ActiveSync and
reinstall any third party software and/or personal files.

Different for each device. usually a small recessed button on the
bottom or back of the device.
