Any ideas anyone on this problem?
PC = Win 98SE
Activesync 3.7
Ipaq 3850 with Pocket Pc 3.0.1.11171
When place ipaq in cradle it conncets then "Critical communications have failed to start, reset device and replace in cradle". Inevitably the soft reset does not work.
When I try to backup get "the backup region is full"
No info available anywhere that I can find about what the error messages mean or what to do about them

I have never seen any problems like that. Have you tried hard resetting the device. Also make sure you delete all pre-existing partnerships with activesync.

i have recently experienced the same problem. i contacted hp and they were no help at all. i solved it once by uninstalling active sync and redownloading and installing the program. however, this evening i ran into the same problem and this fix did not work.
