BT enters BlackBerry deal with RIM

British telco BT has signed an agreement with Canadian wireless solutions provider Research In Motion (RIM) to become Europeâ€™s first mobile virtual network operator to sell BlackBerry wireless communications solutions.

The deal is to enable BT to offer BlackBerry to its corporate customer base. The BlackBerry handhelds are to be co-branded BlackBerry and BT.

Developed and manufactured by RIM, BlackBerry offers BTâ€™s customers secure, always-on, wireless access to their corporate e-mail and data, via a BlackBerry handheld with integrated phone, SMS, internet, calendar and organiser capability. BlackBerryâ€™s â€˜pushâ€™ technology also means customers donâ€™t have to periodically connect to their e-mail to check for new messages as messages are automatically routed to the handheld. BT is initially offering the BlackBerry 7230 and BlackBerry 7730 handhelds….

Spb Software House Builds Pocket PC “Supercomputer”

What do you get when you put Spb's creative programmers in a room with a bunch of Pocket PCs? A Pocket PC Supercomputer! As a part of our continuing research at Spb Software House, we have assembled and tested a computing cluster based on Pocket PC devices. Twelve Pocket PC devices have been joined in a cluster to perform distributed calculations – the devices share the load of a complex calculation. The concept was to compare the performance of several Pocket PC devices linked into a cluster with the performance of a typical Pentium II-class desktop computer.

AMD Gives Peek at a Linux based PDA

“Chip maker Advanced Micro Devices is showing off a reference design for a PDA based on its Alchemy Au1100 processor running Linux at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco, according to the company…The chip is available in three versions, running at clock speeds of 333 MHz, 400 MHz, and 500 MHz, and includes a MIPS32 processor core, an on-chip LCD controller, a 10/100 Ethernet controller, and a USB device and host controller, according to information on AMD's Web site.”
