Dell have released a new version of the Rom for Dell AXim devices. Version A02. Note the last item which mentions support for the C1 Stepping Xscale aka PXA 255. I have been investigating this and so far it looks like there are no performance improvements. I will have a definite answer when I recieve my own Axim in a few days.

List of fixes is below.

• Improved backup battery status monitoring
• Changed time-out values for power light (notifications) to improve battery life
• Improved start-up time
• Improved navigation button applet
• Improved CompactFlash modem interface driver
• Support for C1 stepping of Intel XScale CPU

Remember the download requires a hard reset and is also quite large at 27mb which could be a problem for dialup users like myself.
