Fujitsu PC Corporation confirmed to PDA Buzz today that the Pocket LOOX Pocket PC would not be shipping in the USA. Parent company Fujitsu-Siemens will still sell the device in some markets, but the American division says that it will instead put its efforts into the launch of its Tablet PC products later this year.
This is sure to disappoint many American Pocket PC fans who were intrigued by the Pocket LOOX’s combination of compact design, bright screen, 400MHz xScale processor, and built-in Bluetooth capabilities.

Japanese wireless network carrier NTT DoCoMo will begin selling a handheld device in Japan this fall using Microsoft’s Pocket PC 2002 operating system.
The device, called the musea, will have organizer functions and will be able to be able to send and receive data over NTT DoCoMo’s third-generation FOMA wireless service. Musea will come with 64MB of memory, a 3.5-inch color display, and a 206MHz Intel StrongArm processor. It will be available for sale on Sept. 9.
NTT DoCoMo joins a slowly growing list of network carriers that have plans to release devices that can access wireless networks. T-Mobile announced on Thursday that it is selling a handheld using Microsoft’s Pocket PC 2002 OS that combines cell phone and organizer features and lets customers wirelessly surf the Web and send and receive e-mail. AT&T Wireless said Wednesday that, as part of a larger partnership with Microsoft, it will deliver similar to T-Mobile’s in the fourth quarter.
The musea will be able to receive data at speeds of 384kbps and send data at 64kbps over NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA service.
The device will come with a Type II CompactFlash slot, USB interface and an infrared port.

Wireless carrier T-Mobile announced Thursday that it is selling a device using Microsoft’s Pocket PC Phone Edition software, making it the first to do so in the United States.
T-Mobile’s Pocket PC Phone Edition combines cell phone and organizer features as well as voice and data capabilities, which will let customers wirelessly surf the Web and send and receive e-mail. The device will cost $550, but T-Mobile is offering a $50 rebate on the device for the next 45 days for subscribers who agree to a one-year service contract. The device runs on T-Mobile’s GSM (global system for mobile communications) and GPRS (general packet radio service) wireless networks.
T-Mobile’s device is the first device available in the United States to use Microsoft’s Pocket PC Phone Edition software. Hewlett-Packard announced that it will sell a device using the Phone Edition software in Europe that runs on wireless carrier Vodaphone’s network. The British wireless carrier mmO2 also announced that its XDA handheld, which is made by Taiwan’s HTC, will also use Phone Edition software. The T-Mobile device is the same HTC-made device.
