EARLIER REPORTS that Dell has ordered one and a half million PDAs from Wistron still appear to be correct, but the paper that reported that story now seems to be suggesting that another Taiwanese vendor is still mulling over whether to supply its devices too.

According to today’s Economic News, High Tech Computers, a sister company of Via, is set to make a PDA for Dell, although we believe Compaq, which uses HTC kit, wouldn’t be too happy if those reports are true.

The paper suggests that HTC is still prepared to bid for the Dell order, but as HP uses its machines for the Ipaq PDAs, this might not necessarily be a good idea.

HTC is doing pretty well anyway – according to reports. It produces the machine used in British firm O2’s XDA.
