WHISP (Wireless Handheld Information Service Platform) is an advanced communication platform of a new generation. It fills the need for an efficient, robust and user friendly solution to built business to business or business to customer wireless mobile information services and applications. WHISP has been especially designed for PocketPC equiped with wireless access 802.11b. It enables to build applications with several hundred of users connected at the same time

Initial access to information is done by broadcasting in push mode when the user enters the coverage area of the WLAN. The user will browse the pages and shall later retrieve a specific information, by sending a connection request to a server (pull mode) in unicast mode or to a transaction server for database access. Remote update server can automatically update the data on every terminal connected (push mode) to the WLAN without any action of the user.

WHISP addresses the fast growing customer base of Pocket PC computers users while on the move. Nevertheless, the applications developed on WHISP platform may also be accessed from Pen Tablets or Notebooks running under the various Windows operating systems (Pocket PC 2000 or 2002, Windows 95, 2000, XL or NT).

WHISP interchange interfaces are fully XML standard compliant .
