Today’s battery research is heavily focused on lithium chemistries, so much so that one could assume that all future batteries will be lithium systems. Lithium-based batteries offer many advantages over nickel and lead-based systems. Although maintenance free, no external service is known that can restore the battery’s performance once degraded….

Simple Guidelines

  • Charge the Li-ion often, except before a long storage.

    Avoid repeated deep discharges.
  • Keep the Li-ion battery cool. Prevent storage in

a hot car. Never freeze a battery.
  • If your laptop is capable of running without a battery

and fixed power is used most of the time, remove the battery

and store it in a cool place.
  • Avoid purchasing spare Li-ion batteries for later

use. Observe manufacturing date when purchasing. Do not

buy old stock, even if sold at clearance prices.

Compaq has issued a customer advisory notice for the SD memory card. This may fail “after a short period of use” in the iPAQ H3800 Series Pocket PC, the company says.

The problem appears to be confined to a few batches of 64MB and 120MB cards, and you can check if yours is one of those affected by looking at the LOT code at the back of the card. If it’s a dud, you can get a replacement, although that may not help you recover any data that you have lost.

Version 0.3 opf Tweaks2k2 has been released. Changes include:

5 more options were added, almost all of them related to PPC 2002:

-Admin Password (PPC 2002): This option will set a new Policy Icon in your Settings window which can be use to protect your PDA form any undesired software installation thru Active Sync.

-Show Network Icon (PPC 2002): This will allow seeing a network icon while browsing your PDA with file explorer (this option is indispensable if you are planning to connect your PDA to a network)

-Wordlogic keyboard as default: This allows you to choose your Wordlogic keyboard (www.wordlogic.net) as default keyboard. I tested Transcriber and Calligrapher and these are not compatible with this tweak.

-Start Menu Animation (PPC 2002): This option allows you to disable the Start Menu Animation, new feature of PPC 2002 that slowdown your System performance.

-Battery Warning Setting (PPC 2002): With this tweak you have access to this event thru SettingsSound and NotificacionsNotifications (By default you don’t have access).
