Compaq have released Rom version 1.87 for Ipaq’s that have not been upgraded to PPC2002. I am not sure why the did this because I think most people are probably using PPc2002 now. You would think they would be spending their time fixing issues with the PPC 2002 upgrade. Anyway changes include :
- Provides IBM Microdrive recognition.
- Provides extended battery fault warning message upon Expansion Pack insertion.
- Provides PCMCIA detection on socket 1 of the Dual Slots Expansion Pack.
- Fixes connecting issue via serial port to Windows NT 4.0 .

First off, I would like to say that, Compaq has delivered their promise for the fastest turnaround in replacing a faulty unit for their customer. It was stated in the warranty information that, Pocket PC devices has 24-48 hours turnaround time, and in less than 24 hours, I got a call from Compaq Care Centre to pick up my new baby!!
Once again, let me remind you all, do take advantage of your warranty and take the full benefit of replacing/repairing the fault that you may experienced.

Jared Miniman (pocketnow) has a review of the Anycom PM-2000 Bluetooth Printer Module and PocketPRINT v3.0. This allows a bluetooth enabled PocketPC to print wirelessly.
“Bluetooth printing is a great concept that I hope will eventually take off. It is, after all, one of the first Bluetooth demonstrations that most of us in the industry saw at conventions many months ago. Is it where it should be? It looks like the handshaking routines and proper use of the 2.4 GHz frequency band is well contained within the Bluetooth Printing specification. As to whether I will find myself regularly printing Pocket Office documents (I currently do not) is another question. Anycom is a trusted name in the Bluetooth world, and I’m eager to see what future solutions come about. I do hope, however, that they agree to open up their unreleased devices to non-Anycom client cards. Unless they do so, I’ll have difficulty recommending something like the PM-2000 for fear of the buyer looking to have flexibility in the access cards they can use.”

Extract form thread on PDabuzz.com:
“The unit (picture to the left) is said to support 900 and 1800MHz GSM/GPRS (meaning Europe only) via a Texas Instruments ARM7/ARM9 duel design processor. In addition it is said to be equipped with 32MB FlashROM, 64MB RAM, a 3.5″ 240×320 16-bit reflective TFT display, and a Compact Flash Type I slot. The unit is 137 x 77.8 x 16.7 mm, weighs 184 grams and is powered by two LiPolymer batteries, one fixed and one removable providing 180 minutes of talk time and 170 hours of standby. Also just a note, the “stinger” screen you see on the device is almost certainly superimposed, the device is a Pocket PC 2002 device and as such is expected to run the Pocket PC 2002 user interface. ”
