First off, I would like to say that, Compaq has delivered their promise for the fastest turnaround in replacing a faulty unit for their customer. It was stated in the warranty information that, Pocket PC devices has 24-48 hours turnaround time, and in less than 24 hours, I got a call from Compaq Care Centre to pick up my new baby!!
Once again, let me remind you all, do take advantage of your warranty and take the full benefit of replacing/repairing the fault that you may experienced.

YAY!!! I’ve got my “new” iPaq…
The first thing I noticed is the new BIOS number (1.15). I performed the Pocket PC 2002 SP1 update to this new baby (Nope, it did not have SP1 update in it before), and now I’m restoring my backup file onto it.
This new iPaq is slightly “different”, first off, it does not print the product model on the label at the back. And this model here is USA model, where as my last model is UK model. And I think with this new iPaq (rom 1.15), the well-known H3800-series backlit problem is fixed. I occassionally had such weird behaviour happened to my “old” iPaq — wherever you are now.
Oh… restoring process can be really slow, what a painful job. But I guess that will give my iPaq a bit of a time to recharge its battery and ready for my day’s work ahead.
Just one bit of advice before I conclude this post, do remember to backup, do remember to take advantage of your warranty period, and finally… do take care of your Pocket PC devices.
I’m happy now that I have received my replacement iPaq in less than 24 hours. Kudos to Compaq Care Centre, and technical support teams. This is a job well-done.
