Just thought I post something here that is related to my iPaq 3850.

You know sometimes you are enjoying digital audio to its full enjoyment and you got a bit too carried away with the music, and you seem to forgot just the tiny little bit of the mishap that might happened?

Hear my story more at here…

Well, I turn the volume up just that bit too loud and now my iPaq 3850 blew its speaker. So whenever I hear a bass blasting, it sounded like a flat-puff-hissing sound. I quickly check my worldwide warranty license and boy was I in all luck!

This morning, called up Compaq Helpdesk, and report the problem. I was given an a-okay-all-approved for a new replacement unit. Lodged the problem and head off to the Compaq Care centre (which by the way, very near my place).

So filled up a few short questions and report the fault, and given a job-card and had a short chat with the helpdesk person. And done… performed a hard-reset, then handed over my 1 month old little Sioux (yes that was its name). And hopefully a new unit will be available soonish as I can’t live without my iPaq.

Along the way, I learned a few minor lesson…

1) Don’t play your digital audio too loud on your iPaq (or pocket pc devices alike)

2) Always make sure you have performed a regular backup image of your system

3) Make worth of your warranty, don’t waste a bit of the service within the warranty, in the short 12-months of your unit’s lifetime, make well advantage of everything

4) If you are near end of your unit’s warranty period, check out the Extended Warranty plan, though it may cost you just a bit but in long run they can be a helpful thing.
