
Infosync have an article on the Hitachi NPD-10JWL which runs the CE.net core. It also features the new intel Xscale PXA-250 processor and integrated 802.11b . Unfortunately it is will only be available in Japan at first and it is aimed at the corporate sector. Price and availability is not yet known.
“Asustek Computer will launch its first own-branded PDA (personal digital assistant) with a GPRS (general packet radio service) module in mid-April, said vice-president Tzeng Chien-sheng.
The PDA will be equipped with Intel’s StrongARM 1110 processor, and run on the Pocket PC 2002 operating system. Asus will follow this up with the launch of a similar model using Intel’s new XScale processor in Q3.”

CnetX have released a freeware applet which allows you to enable cleartype on your device. I am sure some of you have noticed that the Ipaq 3700/3800 series does not have this ability although many of the other devices do.

According to dce2000 Casio are to stop selling their E-200 PocketPC to fix all the problems with this device.
“CASIO is currently modifying all their current stock of E-200s to correct the
Backlight issue that has been reported in the US. These units will be shipping
in March 2002.”

According to Pocketgamer a port of Civilisation will soon be released for the PocketPC. The aplha version is 75% complete and should be ready for release very soon. Best of all it is an open source piece of sofware therefore it will be freeware.

Toshiba announced today that they will be releasing a new PDA in Q2 2002. This new device will use the newly released Intel PXA250 processor which is based on the X-scale micro architecture and will run at a clock speed of 400mhz.
It looks like we are going to be seeing a whole new batch of X-scale PPC’s in the coming months.

For all you Toshiba E-570 owners I am sure you have noticed the lack of Diagonals on this device. There is a software bug which stops games and other programs from recognising diagonal button press. According to this thread someone has tested an official beta patch from Toshiba which fixes the problem. The patch should be available from Toshiba soon.
