Runs on PocketPC2000 and PocketPC2002. One of the complaints against the PPC 2002 OS is that alarms now cannot be repeated. This was available in the previous PPC 2000 OS. Super Alert auto-detects PocketPC2002 devices and offers the option to have Repeating Calendar Alarms. Allows independent settings for Clock and Calendar alarms (Note: as with the standard PocketPC notification settings these affect all appointments).
Small – takes up very little memory
Integrated – set it up and it disappears into the background until an alarm sounds. Set up alarms normally with the clock or calendar.
More details at here. SuperAlert is priced at US$9.99.

CNet.com has an article on the topic relating the handheld devices in the wireless future. Interestingly, among the article’s main focus is on Palm PDA’s “soon-to-be-released” i705 wireless-PDA, an excerpt relating to Intel’s latest processor chip for mobile/handheld devices is mentioned.
“Meanwhile, devices using Microsoft’s Pocket PC operating system, could get a speed and power boost as Intel starts shipping the first chips using its XScale architecture, the successor to the StrongARM chips used in nearly all Pocket PC-based devices. Sources say manufacturers should be able to introduce products using XScale later this quarter.”
In another CNet.com article:
“Intel added that it will launch XScale in the first quarter and that devices running the chip are due out in the first quarter as well. Manufacturers already have samples of XScale, according to Intel.”

COMMENTARY — Although the idea that a personal digital assistant running Linux could provide the same functionality as a Windows CE or Pocket PC device at a significantly lower cost is attractive, fact is most costs come from hardware.
Microsoft and Palm both charge only $7 to $10 per operating system license for a PDA, so eliminating that cost by using Linux would affect pricing only at the extreme low end of the market (that is, PDAs priced under $100, which offer only the most basic functions and are unlikely to meet most companies’ requirements to support mobile workers).
